RALEIGH, N.C. — A man who robbed a SunTrust bank inside a Raleigh supermarket on Wednesday is suspected of having robbed other area banks recently, police said Thursday.

A man passed a note demanding money to a teller at the SunTrust branch in the Kroger store at 8345 Creedmoor Road at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man is described as a black man in his 30s to 40s, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with a stocky build and dark complexion. He has a beard and mustache and was wearing a dark blue, plaid shirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes, a black hat with a white or silver logo on it and large-framed sunglasses.

Raleigh police said they believe the same man robbed the Wood Forest bank inside the Walmart at 10500 Glenwood Ave. at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Investigators said they also think he might have committed multiple recent bank robberies in Durham.

Anyone with information about the hold-ups or the suspected robber is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-834-HELP.
