Roanoke Rapids police Chief Chuck Hasty has left the department, city says

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is looking for a new leader after city officials said Wednesday that former Chief Chuck Hasty is no longer with the department.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is looking for a new leader after city officials said Wednesday that former Chief Chuck Hasty is no longer with the law enforcement agency.

City Manager Joseph Scherer declined to publicly disclose why Hasty had left the post.

"As this is a personnel matter, I cannot offer any other comment about it," he said in a writtent statement. "We wish Chuck and his family all the best in the future."

Hasty worked as a captain with the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office before joining Roanoke Rapids in 2014.

He started his law enforcement career in 1991 by working as a corrections officer and worked for several central North Carolina law enforcement agencies, including sheriffs' offices in Northampton and Halifax counties.
