Roanoke Rapids man faces 39 charges after break-in

A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested Friday on 39 charges in connection with a January break-in.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested Friday on 39 charges in connection with a January break-in.

Detective James Martin said that investigators determined that blank checks and cash were stolen during the Jan. 17 break-in.

David Hinkle, 22, faces seven counts each of obtaining property by false pretenses, possession of stolen property, uttering forged endorsement and forgery of endorsement. He was also charged with breaking and entering, injury to real property and nine counts of misdemeanor larceny.

Hinkle was placed in the Halifax County jail under a $10,000 bond. His first court appearance was set for March 2.
