Road closures for Komen race

Several roads will be temporarily closed on Saturday for the annual Susan G. Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure, which is being held at Meredith College in Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Several roads will be temporarily closed on Saturday for the annual Susan G. Komen NC Triangle Race for the Cure, which is being held at Meredith College in Raleigh.

Pre-race traffic in the area is expected to be heavy, starting at 5:30 a.m., as runners start parking at the RBC Center and are shuttled to Meredith College, where the first 5-kilometer race gets under way at 7 a.m. along Hillsborough Street across from the college.

There will also be a 5K race on the same course at 7:45 a.m. and again at 8:45 a.m., as well as one-mile fun run at 9:30 a.m.

Shuttles will be running throughout the morning for runners in each race.

Roads being used for the event are:

  • Hillsborough Street
  • Gardner Street
  • Clark Avenue
  • Brooks Avenue
  • Barmettler Street
  • Dixie Trail
  • Faircloth Street
  • Gorman Street

Drivers should also expect heavy traffic before and after the races around the RBC Center, along Interstate 440 in that area, Wade Avenue, Blue Ridge Road and Trinity Road.
