<p>Happy Saturday. Meteorologist Chris Michael's here in the Weather Center today. We make it into the mid to upper 70s. Nice and pleasant, low humidity, occasionally some increasing clouds and just a stray shower tonight in our southern counties. Tomorrow we see isolated afternoon showers, highs upper 70s, better chance at night into very early Memorial Day with highs in the mid 70s, and future cast can help kinda outline that for us. So there's that stray sprinkle tonight, the air, I think is too dry for really anything more than that. And by Sunday, we start the day out, dry, more sun to the north and more clouds to the south, but as a front starts to creep a little bit farther to the north, we'll tap into some of that moisture and again, most of that is going to come in Sunday night into very early Monday. Doesn't look like we need to go canceling any plans this holiday weekend, but we'll be with you every step of the way.</p>

On behalf of Major General Pat Burke, Commanding General of the eighty-second Airborne Division, and Command Sergeant Major Randolph Della Pena, the division Command Sergeant Major. And the more than 17,200 paratroopers, the 82nd Airborne Division. Welcome to the 2025 All American Division Review showcasing America's Guard of Honor. The theme for this year's All American Week is We are all American and proud to be. We are proud to honor all the troopers who have served as we remember their service and sacrifices. In front of you stands a portion of those 17,200 paratroopers that when not at war are training for their hardest day of ground combat. The paratroopers of America's guard of Honor stand ready to deploy as America's only rapid contingency response force. In attendance today and seated in the reviewing stand is Secretary of Defense, the Honorable Pete Hegseth. Commander, United States Army Forces Command, General Andrew Pappas. Command Sergeant Major, United States Army Forces Command. Command Sergeant Major TJ Holland. Commander, 18th Airborne Corps, Lieutenant General Gregory Anderson with his wife Louanne. Please be seated, ladies and gentlemen, please direct your attention to the far left of the field as the division's adjutant begins this year's review with the command sound attention. We are all American and proud to be marching today are veterans from the All-American Legacy. When you enter the 82nd Airborne Division, wear the AA patch and Don the maroon beret, you walk among the ghosts of legends. Today, marching before you is a true living representation of decades of heroism, sacrifice, and courage. Veterans of the 82nd Airborne Division led by Mr. Gary Coy, president of the 82nd Airborne Division Association. And in trail is First Sergeant retired James Grimes, the association's executive director. We are all American and proud to be. The division's history is one of courage, heroism, and valor on the fields of battle. We carry the bloodline of a warrior class that saved the world from tyranny. We Deployed in support of democracy in Dominican Republic, South Vietnam, Haiti, Europe, and shed blood during numerous combat tours in the global war on terrorism. This is a responsibility handed down to today's all-American territory. Formed in 1917 during World War One, the 82nd Division was initially a draftee outfit, representing every state in the union and the spirit of the American experience of the early 1900s. This new division was nicknamed All American. And the great war's critical moments in Saniel in Mos or gone, when the fate of the world hung in the balance, the all-American soldiers stood tall. The legend of the 82nd Airborne Division would only grow further still through the sacrifice and valor displayed by the paratroopers in World War II, culminating in the divisions spearhead of the DAyro Chanel. Normandy, France on the 19. Cementing the borne division's reputation around the world. Throughout the Cold War, the division. the world. Vietnam, Grenada, Honduras, Panama, and participated heavily in the desert Storm. After 9/11, the division deployed several times in support of the global world. The 82 operated in the mountains of Afghanistan, Straits of Iraq, and deserts of Syria. To date, 260s. Lay down their lives. Today, the division stands ready to deploy anywhere in the world to meet our nation's needs. For over a century, our paras have consistently influenced defining moments of recent. And the AA patch remains a symbol of American courage and resolve. Ladies and gentlemen, the veteran paratroopers of the eighty-second Airborne Division. OK. Sound detention. One way that we accomplish this is by fostering a culture of competition. At this time, we wish to celebrate our very own best of the best and highlight key victories and achievements by our very own paratroopers. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the eighty-second Airborne Division, NCO of the year. Staff Sergeant Christopher Snburg. He is followed by the 82nd Airborne Division Soldier of the Year, Sergeant Tyler Gerondo. The division Jumpmaster of the Year, Staff Sergeant Ryan Clark. Our division best squad was selected as the best 5 trooper team in the division and consists of Staff Sergeant Kevin Saga, Sergeant Carlos Sampson, Specialist Wyatt McGraw, Specialist Liam Peacock. And Specialist Dylan Landon. Finally, we wish to highlight our four finalists that have completed the grueling US Army Best Ranger competition against 52 other teams across the Army. Team 23 in 9th place, First Lieutenant Zachary Simon and Sergeant First Class Christopher Nagle and Team 22 in 15th place, Sergeant Zachary Irvine and Sergeant Keegan Ford, who was unable to attend today. Please join me for a round of applause in recognizing these exceptional paratroopers. This week, paratroopers competed in numerous events as individuals or teams. The dust has now settled and a clear winner has emerged. Ladies and gentlemen, after a grueling week filled with tremendous shows of strength, speed, mental toughness and resilience. This year, the overall best battalion All-American Week, 2025 is First Battalion 325. Airborne Infantry Regiment, Second brigade combat team, Red Falcons. Yeah OK. Ladies and gentlemen, at this time, please welcome the commander of the eighty-second Airborne Division, Major General Pat Work. Paratroopers, rest, flex your knees, shake it out. You honor these extraordinary paratroopers in America's first airborne division with your attendance, and we're grateful. All right, paratroopers, square yourselves away. These free men and women on the field before us, these paratroopers are a national treasure. Unmatched by anything on the planet, they are the nation's birds of prey in the maroon berets. They strike from the skies. They're ready to go anywhere in the world in 18 hours, defeat any enemy, complete any mission, and dominate any drop zone, and I respect you for it. For Command Sergeant Major Della Pena and I, it's an extraordinary privilege to stand in the airborne phalans with you. And it's also a tremendous privilege for us to welcome our distinguished guests and reviewing official today, our 29th Secretary of Defense. So Secretary Heck says, Sir, welcome to the 82nd. Welcome to All American Week, and welcome to Fort Bragg, what many of us refer to as the center of the universe. We look forward to your remarks. Look What an amazing day. What an incredible opportunity. I thought I had the best job in the country. I don't think I do. Major General work, thank you. Congratulations. Appreciate your actions. Your words and your leadership. Along with Command Sergeant Command Sergeant Major Dela Pena, do the best jobs. In the country, best jobs in the world. It is an absolute honor to be here, not just amongst. The current But amongst the path. Amongst those who stand the line. And those who stood the line. Those who fight and those who support them. This here I know is a community. It means the world for me and my staff to be here. There is nowhere I would rather be. We've had this day circled on our calendar in the Pentagon for quite some time. It is great. To be here at Fort Bragg. It is Fort Bragg again. You know, there's nothing wrong with liberty. Give me liberty or give me death. I love it. But give me Fort Bragg every day of the week. And to this formation out here, this beautiful formation, as I look, a message from our commander in chief, from your commander in chief, from President Donald J. Trump. We know that all of you, America's 911, that you have our back. The message for the commander in chief straight from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is he has your back. I get a chance to watch it every day in the Oval Office on foreign trips wherever he is, he is laser focused on putting America and Americans first and ensuring peace through strength. So as you train, as you prepare, as you are the tip of the spear, know that you are serving under a commander in chief who has your interests in mind with every decision that he makes. Now one of those decisions he made was choosing a Secretary of Defense. And you know, Some folks out there, we got our friends in the fake news media are here. Some of them said critics might say you can't choose an Army major to be the Secretary of Defense. It has to be one of our many distinguished generals or congressmen or business leaders or corporate leaders. There's many incredible Americans. One of the critiques was, we need somebody that can think strategically, big picture. We can't have a guy who Think like troops. To which I say, hell yeah, we can have a guy that thinks like the truth. You see, my job is to think strategically, operationally, but also understand the tactical. I have stood not that long ago in a formation like this one. And if you didn't hear it, please rest. Double rest. If that's a command from the Secretary of Defense. I've been in loosening my knees, taking a deep breath, gazing over the horizon, sweating and wondering what time it is, but I can't move my arm. I've been in your boots, not yours. The 101st is not the 82. I get it. I'll admit that on a day like today. Not quite in your boots or your beret, but clothes. And so as I thought about this speech. I have an amazing staff. A wonderful staff And a great speechwriting team, and they put together a binder of 27 pages. I mean, it's like the Gettysburg Address meets the State of the Union. Churchill meets Reagan. But then I thought, wait, the last thing I want, if I'm standing in formation is a 27 page speech. So I will spare you that today. The old timers appreciate that one because they can sound that off. I recognize in many ways many of the aspirations, thoughts, anxieties, fears, dreams that you have standing in formation, you and your family. My job is to stay. Focus on you and our war fighters every single day. So my message today is simple and on behalf of the president, we're we're going to bring it back to the basics, the basics, sir, that you talked so much about that the 82nd nearborn is focused on. We're going to restore the warrior ethos, and we are across our formations a standard that's set here every single day. We will focus on readiness, on training, on war fighting, on accountability, on standards. Black, white, male, female, doesn't matter. We're gonna be color blind and merit-ba warfighters just like you are here in the 82. We're also taking care of our people. It's not just training, it's not just beans and bullets, it's families. It's historic investment in barracks and housing, in healthcare. And yes, in pay, it's a big increase coming from E1 to E4. Also, I've got a bit of an announcement today that might be of interest to this community. For the first time in 25 years. Here at the Secretary of Defense through the Secretary of the Army, we are increasing junk. Not only are we increasing pay. But for the first time, jump masters who have never been compensated additionally for that additional duty are going to receive an additional $150 a month in incentive pay. So here's to our jump our paratroopers, our jumpmasters who do the difficult things in difficult places that most Americans can never imagine. But I want you to know inside the corners of the Pentagon, you are on our mind. With the decisions that we make in budgets, in planning, in deployments, in orders, in reorganizations, we have you and your families in mind. We're going to rebuild our military. President Trump is committed to historic investments inside our four nations. Our promise to you is that when the 82nd Airborne is deployed, if we have to call 911 for America's response force, you will be equipped better than any other fighting force. world you should never under President Trump's watch a fair fight. That's my promise to you. We will rebuild this military. And we're going to reestablish deterrence. Unfortunately, for a number of years, the world watched and wondered where American leadership and American strength was. They watched the war that was unleashed in Ukraine or the attacks that happened on October 7th, just that same mentality reverberating just this last night, sadly in Washington DC. We saw the debacle of what happened in Afghanistan. President Trump has said by putting America first we will reestablish peace through strength and we will reestablish the. And when I look out at this formation, the eyes of the men and women and these flags, I see the eyes of deterrence. I see the eyes of American strength. I see the eyes that will deter the wars that we don't want to fight because we know we have a president committed, a commander in chief committed to peace. And my first platoon motto we ever had is one that you all know well. Those who long for peace must prepare. that motto every single day on behalf of our nation, and I cannot thank you enough to express our gratitude enough for what you. So, in conclusion, I'm going to turn to page 27. And end with some well written words deserve of a fantastic formation like this. I'm grateful to be assembled here amongst America's guard of honor. The Warriors of the 82nd Airborne Division. Your families So many stouthearted veterans. Like those who came before you. You keep showing the world the stuff you're made of.
