Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken announces Chapel Hill location

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Rise Southern Biscuits & Righteous Chicken will open its first Chapel Hill location in March 2022, the company announced Tuesday.

The Eastgate Crossing restaurant, which will be located at 1800 E. Franklin St., will be the eighth Triangle location for the business.

The upcoming location will feature a more streamlined process for to-go ordering and contactless pick-up. There will not be indoor seating.

“We are thrilled to bring our updated concept to Chapel Hill and to build a new store model we believe is the future of Rise,” Rise CEO and founder Tom Ferguson said. “Rise is committed to integrating technology with our culture. We embraced online ordering well before COVID-19 and have been working hard to streamline operations and allow our customers a fast and efficient way to enjoy Rise. The heated food lockers were introduced in our Carrboro and Durham stores last year, and customers love the contactless convenience when they pick up their order.”

Rise has 16 locations across the country. The Chapel Hill location is the first new Triangle location in more than four years and is owned by Ferguson, Ken Priest and Brian Wiles.

Rise is known for its scratch-made buttermilk biscuits, offered with savory toppings like bacon, sausage and fried chicken. The menu also includes Counter Culture coffee, glazed blueberry biscuit, biscuit cinnamon rolls and donuts.

Rise is a multiple WRAL.com Voters' Choice Award winner for best biscuits. They are finalists again this year.
