DURHAM, N.C. — Durham Crime Stoppers has offered an additional $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a March slaying.

Combined with a reward from the Governor's Office, that offering raises to $10,000 the reward for information in the March 26 death of  Sean Kali Buwe, 18, of Sima Street.

Witnesses said Buwe was walking down Liberty Street, near Elm Street, around 9 p.m. A man in dark clothing got out of a burgundy van or sport-utility vehicle, walked up behind Buwe and shot him.

Witnesses said the shooter then fled in the vehicle, which was driven by another person.

Police said they hope the reward will entice people who might have information about the case to come forward.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call Sgt. Jack Cates of the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4440, extension 262, or Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers do not have to identify themselves.
