Reward offered in teen's death, arson

The Rocky Mount Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of three men wanted in the death of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found in a burning house last month.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — The Rocky Mount Police Department is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrests of three men wanted in the death of a 17-year-old boy whose body was found in a burning house last month.

Firefighters found the body of Chavalis Boyd, 17, inside a house at 7201 Silver Leaf Road on Sept. 4. An autopsy determined that Boyd had been shot to death before the fire was started.

Police have issued warrants for Corey Jermaine Lee, of 128 Thorne Ridge Circle in Rocky Mount, Nathan Jones, 32, of 1913-D Tischer Road in Raleigh, and Brian Carney, 20, of 237 S. Winstead Ave. in Rocky Mount, charging each with first-degree murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery and first-degree burglary.

None of the three is in custody. Police said they might be driving a white GMC Yukon with North Carolina license YXA-1891 or a white 1999 Ford Taurus with North Carolina license YTX-6836.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Jones, Carney and Lee is asked to call the Rocky Mount police at 252-972-1411 or Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.
