Reward offered in arson cases at Durham park

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information about several cases of arson within the past month at Piney Wood Park in Durham.

DURHAM, N.C. — Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information about several cases of arson within the past month at a Durham park.

Durham police said Friday that a Lincoln Town Car was heavily damaged at Piney Wood Park, 400 East Woodcroft Parkway, when it someone set it on fire around 9 p.m. on Dec. 3.

Shortly before 9 p.m. on Dec. 25, a 2003 Lexus was also destroyed in a fire at the park.

Four days later, on Dec. 29, someone set the park's maintenance storage room on fire in the middle of the night and also painted graffiti on a bathroom wall.

There have not been any injuries reported, authorities said.
