Retail stores closing: Belk, JCPenney, Kohl's, Macy's, Old Navy and more

UPDATED: Many retail stores and malls have closed temporarily due to COVID-19. Following is a growing list of store closings including Bath & Body Works, Belk, JCPenney, Hamrick's, Kohl's, Macy's, Old Navy, T.J.Maxx, Marshalls and more. Most are still open for business online.

Retail stores and malls have begun closing temporarily based on the guidance from the CDC regarding social distancing and large gatherings.

Following is a growing list of store closings including Bath & Body Works, Belk, JCPenney, Hamrick's, Kohl's, Macy's, Old Navy, T.J.Maxx, Marshalls and more. Most are still open for business online, but some of these retailers have ceased all operations, including their online stores.

Closed Malls

Cary Towne Center, Cary: Closed effective March 27 at 5 p.m. until further notice. Certain restaurants remain open for take-out, curbside pick-up or delivery services only. You may want to call ahead to verify.
Cross Creek Mall, Fayetteville: Closing effective March 28 at 5 p.m. until further notice. Certain restaurants may remain open for take-out or delivery orders only. You may want to call ahead to verify.
University Place, Chapel Hill: Closed for all non-essential services. Restaurants and essential services providers may still be open. See details on their website.

Bath & Body Works

Bath & Body Works is temporarily closing as of March 17, 2020. No re-opening date has been indicated at this time. You can still order online from their website. See the details on their Facebook page.

Bed Bath & Beyond

Bed Bath & Beyond stores will be closed through April 3, 2020. You can still order online from their website. See the details on their website.

Belk

Belk is closing their stores at 6 pm on March 17 through March 30. See the announcement on their website.

Burke's Outlet

Burke's Outlet is temporarily closing their stores effective March 20, 2020. See the details online at BurkesOutlet.com.

Carolina Pottery in Smithfield

The Smithfield location of Carolina Pottery is closed at least until March 29, according to their Facebook page.

Cato

Cato stores are closing from March 19 to April 1, 2020. See the details on their website.

Hamrick’s

Hamrick’s is temporarily closing all stores on Friday, March 20 at 7:00 PM. They expect to reopen on Saturday, April 4, 2020. See the details on their website.

JCPenney

JCPenney is temporarily closing all their stores and business offices until April 2. See the details on their website at JCPenney.com.

Kohl's

Kohl's announced on March 19 that they were closing their stores nationwide effective Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m. local time through at least April 1. See the details on their website.

Loft

Loft stores are temporarily closing from March 18 through March 28. See the details on their Facebook page.

Macy's

Macy's announced on March 17, 2020 that they are temporarily closing stores at the end of the day. This includes all Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, Bluemercury, Macy’s Backstage, Bloomingdales the Outlet and Market by Macy’s stores. You can still shop online at Macys.com.

Marshalls

TJX Companies, Inc., which owns the T.J.Maxx, Marshalls and Sierra brands, is temporarily closing all locations globally as well as their online stores, distribution and fulfillment centers and offices for the next two weeks. See the details on their website.

Nordstrom

Nordstrom stores are closing temporarily for two weeks starting on March 17, 2020. See the announcement on their website HERE. You can still shop online.

Old Navy

Old Navy is temporarily closing all stores in North America starting Thursday, March 19. Their Facebook page indicates the stores will be closed for 2 weeks. You can still order online. See the details on their website.

Pier 1 Imports

Pier 1 Imports stores are temporarily closing effective March 22 until further notice. The information was sent by Pier 1 to customers in an e-mail on March 22.

Ross Dress for Less

Ross Dress for Less stores are closed through April 3, 2020. See the details on their website.

Stein Mart

Stein Mart is temporarily closing all of their stores at the end of the day on March 18 and will re-open on March 31. You can see the details and still order online at SteinMart.com.

T.J.Maxx
