WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, N.C. — The threat of storms during hurricane season is never the easiest thing to navigate if you live on the North Carolina coast. It's even more difficult now because of coronavirus.

The threat of Tropical Storm Isaias impacting the weather along the North Carolina coast is something residents and vacationers will be watching over the weekend. The latest information from the National Hurricane Center has the storm impacting our coast sometime early Monday and into Tuesday.

On Thursday in Wrightsville Beach, town officials said they will not begin any preparations for the storm until Friday. According to Wrightsville Beach Town Manager Tim Owens, that includes taking pictures of the beach in case there's erosion, securing trash cans and asking surrounding property owners to secure their belongings.

Right now, many places like Sea Scape Properties are playing it by ear. They rent out rooms for vacationers, and they are completely booked until August.

Despite a possible hurricane heading this way, property manager Robert Huckabee said they haven’t had any calls or cancellations yet. However, they are reminding guests to have a safety plan and do provide them with a list of things to do in case weather gets bad.

"Just be aware of the safety concerns that come about with a hurricane or tropical storm, and know that we're doing everything we can to keep them safe and informed," Huckabee said.

Other places in Wrightsville Beach that WRAL News checked out also said they have not begun any storm preps yet.
