LOUISBURG, N.C. — The Louisburg Nursing Center in Franklin County is among many long-term care facilities losing residents to COVID-19. We now know five residents have died.

On Thursday, a prayer drive-by vigil was held by members of the community. During this trying time, community members say they are rallying together to honor those who passed away and bring a little hope to the residents and staff still battling an outbreak.

Susan Peoples organized the drive-by vigil.

“We’re here to support them and we’re in this together,” Peoples said.

Dozens of families participated in the event. During the vigil they kept social distancing in play as people stayed in their cars to show support … only getting out one family at a time to pay their respects.

“After learning about the additional deaths at Louisburg Nursing Center we just wanted to do something to lift them and let them know they are our heroes and we wanted to help," Peoples said.

After the drive through parade wrapped up, they stopped at the corner to pray for all first responders then continued to Franklin Oaks where they wrapped up the event.
