A look at new and notable trailers that recently hit screens.

‘Rampage’

Like George, the silverback gorilla his primatologist character befriends in “Rampage,” Dwayne Johnson just keeps getting bigger.

His family comedy “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” released in December, is still hot at the box-office, and the Super Bowl Sunday trailer for his summer action flick, “Skyscraper,” has earned high marks. But before that release, there’s “Rampage,” based on a video game.

The latest trailer features George as well as other creatures that swell to Godzilla-like proportions and wreak havoc. It also includes Johnson’s trademark sly, raised-eyebrow humor: “Of course, the wolf flies,” he deadpans of one monster.

Malin Akerman is introduced as one of the film’s villains, a corporate shark behind Project Rampage, “the next chapter in genetic selection.” Gigantic crocodiles — what could possibly go wrong?

“Let’s go save the world,” Johnson’s gorilla whisperer declares. It’s a safe bet that Johnson will succeed — and save the worldwide box office again when “Rampage” invades theaters on April 20.

‘Incredibles 2’

The wait is almost over: “Incredibles 2,” the sequel to Pixar’s 2004 animated smash, “The Incredibles,” will land in theaters soon, and a trailer has just been released.

The plot picks up as if no time has passed. An über-villain who first appeared at the original’s end, the Underminer (voiced by the Pixar staple John Ratzenberger), is wreaking havoc on the planet, and “supers” remain outlaws. That is, until a mogul (the “Better Call Saul” star Bob Odenkirk) pulls strings to get Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) back in action. Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) is left at home to take care of the kids, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack. Turns out math homework is the only force strong enough to bring a superhero to his knees.

Once again written and directed by Brad Bird (who won an Oscar for the first one), “Incredibles 2” promises to reveal baby Jack-Jack’s budding superpowers. Based on what we’ve seen so far, they’re explosive, including lasers shooting from his eyes.

Samuel L. Jackson returns to lend his unmistakable pipes to the role of Frozone. “Incredibles 2” lands in theaters on June 15, just in time for summer vacations.

‘Venom’

“Everyone’s got their own thing,” Tom Hardy growls in the a teaser trailer for Marvel’s “Venom.” “Whatever it is, you used to be one thing, now you’re something else.”

‘Nuff said. Hardy used to be Bane, Batman’s heavy-breathing foe in the DC Comics-based 2012 smash “The Dark Knight Rises.” Now he’s crossed over to the rival Marvel universe to play Venom in the much-anticipated spinoff of the “Spider-Man” franchise.

The role was previously played by Topher Grace in “Spider-Man 3” (2007), but Hardy looks to bring a much darker take to the character of Eddie Brock, one of the web-slinger’s adversaries, who attains superpowers after being infected by an alien Symbiote.

The trailer is long on action and short on explanation, but we do get a glance at the very busy Michelle Williams, currently on screen in “The Greatest Showman” and “All the Money in the World.” She plays Anne Weying, who in comic-book lore is Brock’s ex-wife and, ultimately, the supervillainess She-Venom.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer (“Zombieland”), “Venom” opens in theaters on Oct. 5.
