The lane closure will stretch from U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 306) to N.C. Highway 42 (Exit 312). The speed limit will also be lowered to 55 mph in the work zone.
Weather permitting, the lane will be closed from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 3 p.m. Thursday and from 7 p.m. Thursday to noon Friday, officials said.
Drivers are urged to use alternate routes during those times.
