Grimesland, N.C. — Police have charged a Beaufort County repairman with rape after a woman said she was attacked after he fixed her stove.
The Daily Reflector of Greenville reported Wednesday that Arturo Raamos-Velasco, 33, of 52 Bradford St. in Chocowinity, is charged with second-degree rape.
The 20-year-old woman told police that she was attacked about 10 a.m. Monday in her living room with her 15-month-old son present.
Raamos-Velasco is being held without bond at the Pitt County jail. It was not known if he has an attorney.
CBS News affiliate WNCT reported that authorities suspect Velasco is in the country illegally and placed him under a detainer.
