RALEIGH, N.C. — The Triangle Walk to Defeat ALS will be held Saturday in downtown Raleigh, and this year's event is an 80s theme with some star power behind it.

REO Speedwagon's front man Kevin Cronin is a big supporter.

Cronin posted a clip on social media set to the tune of one of the band's signature hits promoting the event.

In the video, Cronin sings, "Heard it from a friend who, heard it from a friend who, heard it from another that the spring Walk to Defeat ALS is coming up."

Cronin has been friends for years with the president and CEO of the North Carolina chapter of the ALS Association, Dave Shore.

Shore said events like the Walk to Defeat ALS give him hope.

The Triangle Walk to Defeat ALS will be held Saturday in downtown Raleigh at 300 N. Salisbury St. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 10 a.m.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive disease that gradually weakens the muscles until sufferers can no longer move, speak or, ultimately, breathe.
