What are some of the perks of membership at a museum that charges free admission? Members get:
Free admission to special exhibits including the current Rainforest Adventure, which closes Sept. 1, and upcoming World's Largest Dinosaurs, which opens Oct. 11. Members can see these exhibits for free as many times as they'd like. Tickets to The World's Largest Dinosaurs will be $14 for adults and $8 for kids ages 3 to 12 so, depending on how big your family is, you could cover the cost of membership with a visit to the exhibit pretty quickly.
Perks such as discounts on birthday parties; discounts and priority registration for summer camps (which I highly recommend); a discount at the museum store; special events for members; and hospitality areas at some of the museum's big events such as BugFest.
Free or discounted membership to more than 300 science museums around the world, which have come in handy more than a few times on my family's own vacations.
