A construction crew hit an underground power line Tuesday afternoon in downtown Raleigh. More than 600 customers lost power around Chavis Park. A Duke Energy spokesperson said power is expected to be restored by 4:30 p.m.

I'm meteorologist, Amy Wilmeth in the WRL severe weather center. The unsettled weather pattern continues. We have a level one risk for severe storms for today and Wednesday and then a level two risk by Thursday, Thursday is a weather alert day. We'll have a cold front move through Thursday. We'll have more instability and a better opportunity for some of these severe storms for today and tomorrow, it's really just isolated hit and miss storms that will be possible. But any storms that do form could have some strong wind gusts in them for the weather alert day. On Thursday. It looks like it mainly be in the afternoon and evening, although a few storms will be possible in the morning as well. Damaging winds and hail look like the biggest threats with this system. And then it looks like we could still have some storms for the evening commute on Thursday and some spotty power outages would be possible. So we're keeping a close eye on Thursday again. I do think it will have a better chance of seeing some severe storms, but a lot of the energy might stay in our southern counties down into South Carolina that's a trend that we're noticing. Here's a look at Futurecast for today. Four o'clock this afternoon. Just some hit and miss showers and storms. Nothing really widespread. So, a lot of you will stay dry through the day today and I know we'll probably have some cannes watch parties for the game tonight. It's just isolated storms for that. And I know food fighters are a live outdoor event tonight. Um, and that looks like it probably stay dry, only a slim chance for a shower storm during that as well, which is good news Wednesday morning, a couple of showers possible for the morning commute but nothing really widespread. And then in the afternoon and evening, we'll have the potential for some showers and storms. Some isolated severe storms possible. By Thursday in the morning, we'll start off with some rain, maybe a few isolated thunderstorms. Thursday is a weather alert. We'll have the potential for some storms in the afternoon and evening in advance of a cold front. And right now it does look like most of the storm energy is in our southern counties, but everyone is under that level two risk for severe storms. We could see anywhere from a half an inch to maybe three quarters of an inch within the next five days or so. Today, temperatures will be warm in the mid to upper eighties. It's breezy. It's also humid with some spotty storms possible this evening for outdoor practices, mainly dry only a slim chance for a shower or a storm with temperatures staying in the eighties most of the evening, it's hotter tomorrow. 92 for the high with some isolated showers and storms around scattered storms, Thursday, some severe and we'll still have the potential for some storms on Friday with a high of 78. Saturday's dry with the high of 74 Mother's Day. Looks pretty good. Only a slim chance for a storm with a high of 79.
