RALEIGH, N.C. — Registration is open for Raleigh Parks' school-based programs for the spring semester.

The city has seven programs for school kids, including before and after school care for kids, along with care on teacher workdays and remote learning days.

They include the Recreation and Education Center program for kids in kindergarten to eighth grade. These take place at community centers across the city and are designed for kids who are enrolled in virtual learning.

They also include the Parks Play, Activate, Connect Kids Program, a free after school recreation-based program for grade schoolers at five local community centers across the city. The program, according to the city's website, gives kids a chance to play and be active while Wake County schools offer only remote learning for elementary aged children.

These programs are either free or affordable for families. As the pandemic continues, they are a great option for parents who aren't able to work from home or need help supporting their kids during the school day while they work.

Registration is open now, but some options are filling up. Check Raleigh's website to learn more about how to sign your kids up.
If you're looking for additional care for your kids during the school day, also check Families and Schools Together, a collaborative program from groups across the region that connects families in the Wake County school system with child care.
