Recreation center, three parks to temporarily close in Durham

Three playgrounds and a recreation center will close for work.

Durham parks and recreation tells me Edison Johnson Recreation Center and three playgrounds in Durham will close briefly for some work.

Here are the details:

  • Edison Johnson Recreation Center at 500 W. Murray Ave. will be closed from April 15 to April 17 for renovations. The aquatic center will remain open all three days. All recreation programs will be canceled except after school programs, which will be held at the aquatics center on April 15.
The work replacing underground pipes will actually begin Monday, but won't immediately limit operations. The entire project should be complete April 21. For information call 919-560-4270.
  • The playground at Pineywood Park, 400 E. Woodcroft Parkway, will be closed for maintenance beginning Monday. The work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, April 15.
  • The playground at Trinity Park, 410 Watts Street, will be closed for maintenance beginning Tuesday. The work is scheduled to be complete by Friday, April 15.
  • The playground at River Forest, 1000 Windermere Dr., will be closed for maintenance beginning April 18. The work is scheduled to be complete by April 22.
  • The playgrounds will receive new surface material. For information about the playground projects, call 919-560-4355.
