Recall: Wireless phone charger may overheat, causing burns

Matco Tools on Wednesday recalled a batch of wireless cellphone chargers due to reports of overheating and burning.

According to a statement from the U.S. Product Safety Commission, about 4,800 chargers were sold from Matco Tools mobile truck stores nationwide between November and January.

The affected products are round and have “MATCO TOOLS” and the Matco logo printed on a black background in the center. They measure about 4 inches in diameter and ½ an inch in height and were sold with a USB connector cable. The chargers cost around $25.

Consumers who own the chargers should stop using them immediately and return them to the place of purchase for a refund.

The recall was issued after Professional Tool Products received six reports of the chargers overheating. Two customers reported burns to their fingers.
