A new round of StoryWalks is up at parks across the area this month. These walkable picture book trails, where the laminated pages of a book are posted along a trail or walkway, are a fun way to get out and about. They're perfect for toddlers, preschoolers and early readers.

Here's where you can find a StoryWalk in May:

Through May 31, Historic Oak View County Park will feature "Dreamers" by Yuyi Morales (author and illustrator). "Dreamers" is a picture book memoir about making a home with all the things that you carry: your resilience, your dreams, your hopes, and your history. While you're at Oak View, be sure to check out its goats, including two new baby goats who recently joined the herd. For kids on the autism spectrum or with other needs, the park also has a StoryWalk social narrative to download and print before going to the park. The park is off Poole Road in Wake County.
Through May 23, Crowder County Park will feature "Box Turtle at Long Pond," by William T. George. The StoryWalk runs about .8 miles and is located at the park's Outer Loop Trail. The park is near Apex.
Through May 31, Harris Lake County Park in southwestern Wake County will feature "Wangari's Trees of Peace," by Jeanette Winter. The StoryWalk begins near the Cypress Shelter and the panels are along the paved trails around the educational garden and natural play area.
Through May 9, Blue Jay Point County Park in northern Wake County will feature "Counting is for the Birds,. Find it along the park's garden path.
