MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Raleigh-Durham International Airport police are investigating a reported sexual assault of a minor at the airport last week.

A New York woman told WRAL News that her 17-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted in a bathroom at RDU last Friday.

The family was in the Triangle for a graduation ceremony.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, said her daughter went to the bathroom after their plane landed when she was attacked.

Terrified by what happened, the woman said her daughter didn't tell her right away and she found out on Monday from a counselor at her daughter's school.

"This man is out there, and he needs to be caught," she said. "My daughter's traumatized from this situation. It should have never happened to her. It should not happen to anyone else.

RDU police said they are investigating and taking the situation very seriously.

The woman also said police told her there are no cameras in or near bathrooms at RDU.
