Raleigh-Durham International Airport is preparing for a record number of passengers this weekend as people travel for college graduations and Mother's Day, with 150,000 people expected.
Posted — UpdatedMore than 40,000 travelers were expected to go through the airport Thursday, Friday and Monday, which is a 13 percent increase from the same days last week, the airport said.
The airport said more than 150,000 people are expected during the weekend, with Monday being the busiest travel day.
Multiple schools, including North Carolina State University, North Carolina Central University and Shaw University, will hold graduation ceremonies Saturday. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Duke University will hold ceremonies Sunday, on Mother's Day.
The airport recommends passengers arrive at least two hours before a domestic flight.
For those picking up passengers, the airport encourages people use the free cell phone lot.
The airport isn’t the only place that will be busy over the next few days. Hotels are seeing a boost in business, and restaurant reservations can be hard to come by if you don’t already have them.
