RALEIGH, N.C. — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are scheduled to close a pair of ramps next week as part of the Interstate 440 Improvements project.

The ramp from Blue Ridge Road to eastbound Wade Avenue will close for five nights beginning Sunday from 11 p.m. until Monday at 6 a.m. for grading on the new ramp. A detour will direct drivers west on Wade Avenue to Edwards Mill Road to turn around and get on eastbound Wade Avenue.

Also on Sunday, from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, the ramp from I-440 West to westbound Western Boulevard (Exit 2B) will close to allow crews to complete utility work. A detour will lead drivers to exit at Jones Franklin Road (Exit 1C), turn left, and then take the I-440 East back to Western Boulevard.

This work is weather dependent, and the rain date is planned for the following night.

Motorists should allow extra time to navigate the detours and slow down and pay attention throughout the work zone.
