RALEIGH, N.C. — It's not every day a spitting cobra is on the loose in Raleigh.

As with any iconic moment, pop culture isn't far behind – memes and t-shirts have begun popping up on social media, ready to explore the 'lighter side' of what will eventually be a part of weird Raleigh history.

One local clothing company has created a limited supply run of t-shirts.
The shirts read like a baseball team: North Raleigh Spitting Cobras.

Their website teases, "The North Raleigh Spitting Cobras, slithering to a cul-de-sac near you! Get yours NOW, because I'm only making a few of these things."

Unless, they added, a T-ball team renames their team to the Spitting Cobras.

The post on Facebook has gotten hundreds of responses – with many locals claiming how much they need their own t-shirt to commemorate the strange moment in Raleigh pop culture history.

TheRaleighCobra Twitter account

On Twitter, TheRaleighCobra already has an account, and the hashtags #RaleighCobra and #SnakeOnTheTown are being used to share memes and emotions about the roaming cobra.

Memes from the film "Snakes on a Plane" reference being "sick of these snakes in this suburb."

Other users praise how #Blessed they are to live in Cary right now.

One user shared "by far the best Homeowner's Association email" they've ever received.

Part of a letter from the HOA for Brittany Woods, where the cobra was first seen.

Now there's an email residents likely never imagined seeing in their inbox.

The story of Raleigh's cobra has gone viral nationally. Like the Glenwood Avenue snow photo memes or the Twitter account for the Oakwood modern house, it's a moment-in-time that will likely be a Raleigh-wide inside joke for years to come.
