Raleigh woman reports attempted rape

Raleigh police say an attempted rape was reported in the 4900 block of Pebble Beach Drive early Wednesday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police say an attempted rape occurred in the 4900 block of Pebble Beach Drive early Wednesday. 

The victim told authorities that she awoke around 1:30 a.m. to find an unknown man on top of her. She struggled with the man and managed to break free of him. The man fled from the residence and was last seen running toward Hollenden Drive.

The suspect is described as a black man with a light complexion and slender build. He is between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall and has a beard and mustache. He was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and dark shorts. He is believed to be at least 30.

Anyone who was in the surrounding area around the time of the incident and who observed anyone of similar description or saw anything that appeared unusual is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards for anonymous tips that help solve cases.
