RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh woman accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in which speeds hit triple digits while three young children were inside the vehicle has now been formally charged with carjacking an SUV from a North Carolina State University student and she used a BB gun during the incident, according to court documents.
Jnaja Porter, 20, of Dacian Road in Raleigh, had been charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting a public officer and misdemeanor child abuse.

According to an arrest warrant released Friday, she now has been charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and using a weapon on educational property after the 2008 red Jeep Liberty was taken from the owner from the Wolf Village parking lot.

The warrant says Porter allegedly brandished a "black BB gun which reasonaly appeared to the victim as a black firearm."

Porter appeared in court Thursday afternoon for a first appearance hearing but didn't say much during the proceeding. She was being held at the Wake County Jail Friday on a $205,000 bond.

Jnaja Porter, 20, of Dacian Road in Raleigh, is charged felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting a public officer and misdemeanor child abuse.
Police said at the time that a vehicle was taken at gunpoint Tuesday from a female N.C. State student in the parking lot of Wolf Village Apartments near Gorman Street.
The high-speed chase occurred Wednesday around 7:30 p.m. at Brentwood Road and New Hope Church Road.

According to arrest warrants, an officer tried to pull Porter over after the Jeep Liberty she was driving was reported stolen.

Authorities said Porter refused to stop, leading police on a pursuit in which speeds hit or exceeded 100 miles per hour while two 3-year olds and a 1-year old were in the SUV.

During that chase, according to warrants, Porter was running red lights and driving recklessly with those children inside the vehicle. According to police, she led the officers onto Interstate 440 West and took the Forks Road exit.

The SUV was found abandoned, and Porter was located on foot in that area.

No injuries occurred during the incident, police said.

The owner of the stolen SUV declined comment.
