Raleigh woman charged in pedestrian's death

Police say a Raleigh woman was distracted by her radio Thursday afternoon and crashed her car into a pedestrian, killing the man.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh woman who hit and killed a man with her car while he was walking along a roadway Thursday afternoon was distracted by her car radio, police said Friday.

Princess Nicole Singletary, 26, of 2356 Derby Drive, is charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after the wreck Thursday that killed Santos Cruz-Domingue, 61, of Raleigh.

Investigators said Cruz-Domingue was walking on the sidewalk in the 2100 block of Rock Quarry Road when Singletary lost control of her, side-swiped a utility pole before hitting him. He died at WakeMed.

Singletary is also charged with failure to maintain a lane of travel.
