RALEIGH, N.C. — Starting June 1, Raleigh will begin a pilot program for biweekly recycling collection.

The 4,000 households in the first phase of the program were sent post cards informing them of the changes.

The city has already started replacing the current recycling bins with 95-gallon rollout carts. Residents in the pilot program who would prefer a 65-gallon cart should call the Solid Waste Services Department at 919-996-6890.

The program will take approximately four years to implement city-wide. At the end of the four-year period, the cost savings are expected to be approximately $2 million.
