RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh teen has been charged in connection with multiple robberies of individuals who advertised items for sale through the LetGo app.

Emmanuel Kodjoe Amponsa, 17, of 7013 Woodbend Drive, is charged with misdemeanor larceny and possession of stolen goods.

On at least nine occasions, Amponsa used a fake name to contact people attempting to sell Xbox and PlayStation game systems through LetGo, according to a search warrant.

Amponsa would meet the sellers near the Aria North Hills apartments and tell them that he needed to test the devices inside his apartment before completing the transaction, police said. The teen was not a resident of the apartment complex.

In all of the reported incidents, sellers said that Amponsa took the game system and never returned. In one instance, police said Amponsa blocked the seller from contacting him through LetGo once the gaming system was in his possession.

Neighbor Maurice Wells said he has never had any problems using buying and selling apps, but he's usually very careful.

"Well lit public areas is all I could say. No coming to my house, no going to their house, no meeting in the alley way, nothing like that," he said.
