RALEIGH, N.C. — A trial date has been set for a man charged with killing one teen and wounding another in a December 2015 shooting, according to Wake County Superior Court Judge Paul Ridgeway.

Xavier Sanders, who is accused of shooting and killing Kari Onyea Watson, 18, and injuring Dre'kwon Bagley, will head to trial on Aug. 13.

On Dec. 23, 2015, officers were dispatched to a shooting call in the 2800 block of Filbert Street at about 9:45 p.m.

Neighbors in the area said that they heard several shots ring out, followed by the sound of screaming.

Bagley was taken to WakeMed for treatment of a gunshot wound to the leg, and Watson, who was found a few blocks away, died from her injuries.

Police said the shooting was not random.
