Raleigh's newest playground at Optimist Park is now open

As I wrote earlier this month, Raleigh has some new play spaces in the works in 2019. And the first to open is the fully updated playground at Optimist Park near North Hills.

As I wrote earlier this month, Raleigh has some new play spaces in the works in 2019. And the first to open is the fully updated playground at Optimist Park near North Hills.

I had a sneak peek of this playground in this image gallery.

As you can see, the playground features a rubberized surface and includes a large play structure, spinner, climbing boulder, nest swing, log tunnel and so-called expression swings where a young child and adult can swing together as they face each other.

Optimist Park is at 5900 Whittier Dr., Raleigh. The park also includes a community center, year-round pool, tennis courts and several sports fields.
