RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh's waterfront centers at both Lake Johnson and Lake Wheeler have started renting single-person kayaks and standup paddle boards.

And while the kayaks and paddle boards can only be used by people age 16 and up, I'm just sharing it because it could make for a fun way for teens (and, of course adults) to spend a couple hours together.

Standup paddle boards are $15 for 90 minutes for ages 16 and up. Kayaks are $7.50 per 90 minutes for the same age group.

The rentals are available on Wednesdays through Sundays and major holidays through Sept. 6. You can reserve the boats online, which is recommended as quantities are limited.

Check the websites for Lake Johnson and Lake Wheeler for details.
