RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police said a suspect is in custody after a shooting early Friday morning at Crabtree Valley Mall.

Police said Saturday night that 22-year-old Raekwon Devone Neal, of 3479 Tobba Court in Ayden, was arrested. He was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the incident that occurred just before 5 a.m. Friday, not far from the Old Navy near the mall.

Two people were treated at WakeMed with life-threatening gunshot wounds, officials said. Raleigh police said this was an isolated incident.

Crime scene tape was around an SUV with shell casings on the ground on Friday. Many of the people who were shopping Friday said they had no knowledge of a possible assault.

"They need to let people know what's going on, in these days and times we don't know what can happen," said James Graham, who was visiting the mall.
