Raleigh police officer struck by vehicle in Food Lion parking lot, teen driver faces charges
A Raleigh police officer was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon while attempting to apprehend a suspect.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh police officer was hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon while attempting to capture a suspect.
At approximately 2:06 p.m., Raleigh police officers tried to apprehend a suspect in the parking lot of Food Lion on 1100 Raleigh Blvd.
At some point, an officer was hit by a vehicle.
The officer was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Mazaye Anthony James, 18, was arrested and charged in connection with this incident.
James was charged with the following:
- Felony- assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill or inflict serious injury
- Felony- assault with a deadly weapon upon government employee
- Felony- speeding to elude arrest with motor vehicle
- Felony- resist delay or obstruct a public officer causing serious injury
- Felony- possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a schedule ii controlled substance
- Three counts of misdemeanor- injury to personal property
- Misdemeanor-carrying a concealed weapon
- Misdemeanor-reckless driver to endanger
Part of the parking lot was blocked off while police investigated.
