RALEIGH, N.C. — A man is in custody after police say he crashed in an intersection, pulled a gun from his car, and fled from police.

Demond Donte Octetree, 33, was charged with second degree kidnapping, possession of firearm by felon, felony flee/elude arrest, felony larceny of motor vehicle and hit/run fail to stop.

Police responded to WakeMed, where a man seen outside of the hospital with a gun. He never fired the gun or went into the hospital, officials said, and left after he was spotted. Police believe this man was Octetree.

Following this incident, witnesses said they saw the same man run away armed from a crash at New Hope Road and North Louisburg Road.

"He got angry at the hospital and the guns came out there. I don't know how he got away from police, but already the police were looking for him," witness Latisha Anderson said.

Anderson said that her uncle was driving the car involved in the aforementioned crash.

She said that Octetree got into a car accident while his girlfriend was in the car, then took her to the hospital.

Anthony Jones happened to see the crash, as well. Jones went up to the driver who was struck to check on him.

”As we were waiting for the police a second accident happens," Jones described. "And when that second accident happened all hell broke loose. The police came, they said the guy that crashed the car into the other guy was armed and dangerous and now it’s a whole manhunt. It’s crazy."
