RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are investigating a Sunday morning shooting after a man was found shot on Wake Forest Road.

At 4:45 a.m., the Raleigh Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Wake Forest Road. When they arrived, officers found a man who had been shot.

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

"It's shocking to hear," said Isaiah Wilson, who works at the Jimmy Johns a few hundred feet away from the scene. "It's not normal around here, especially on the north side of Raleigh."

Police said this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the public.

The intersection of Wake Forest Road and Six Forks Road was closed but is now open again.

Wilson's coworker, Brennan Glass, said that while shootings are few and far between in that area, they make sure multiple people are working to look out for one another.

"I hope nobody got killed and I hop everybody quits doing that crazy stuff," Glass said. "I hope everyone stays safe."
