RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police worked together on Saturday to collect food and supplies for people in need.

The project, called "Fill a Cruiser," collected donations of canned foods, fruit, soup, dried cereal, hygiene items and household supplies.

They successfully filled an entire police cruiser with donations, which were then donated to the Interfaith Food Shuttle.

Raleigh police "filled a cruiser" with food and supplies for families in need.

"People are very enthusiastic. That’s why I love my job," said Kara Guido, business development manager for Interfaith Food Shuttle.

"To know that we are helping people and making a difference," she said.

Guido said even children as young as 6-years-old were out there volunteering and donating, learning about giving and charitable causes.

On Sunday, the non-profit handed out those donations from noon until 4 p.m. at the Green Road Community Center in Raleigh.

The group will hand out those donations to families while supplies last.
