RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh police officer responding to a foot chase crashed into a utility pole on Poole Road early Thursday.

Officer Edward Reeves lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center lane and hit a utility pole near Ashford Street around 5 a.m., Capt. Chris Bertram said.

Reeves was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at WakeMed Hospital, Betram said. He required some stitches and suffered a bruised leg.

Poole Road was closed between Donald Ross and Ralph drives while Bell South and Progress Energy crews inspected the damage to the utility pole.

Three lanes were reopened by early Thursday afternoon. One lane and a feeder road remained closed.
