RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police were conducting a death investigation in the Brier Creek area Wednesday afternoon.

Raleigh police said officers arrived at 9409 Misty Creek Lane at about 4:26 p.m.

Video from the scene showed several police cars and officers in the area.

Authorities did not say how many people were involved in the incident or the cause of death.

A woman who told WRAL News that she was the landlord of the property said her tenants are a family of four; a mother, father and two children.

Neighbor Timothy Nicholason said he was outside for a Fourth of July cookout when officers arrived at the scene.

"It's a little concerning, with the celebrations going on and everything," he said. "We saw the helicopters and saw the news break and I was a little concerned about what was going on."

Nicholason described the neighborhood as family oriented and peaceful, and said he was surprised to learn police were investigating a death.

"You don't normally hear about that happening in this neighborhood," he said.
