RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police caught an assault suspect Wednesday after he tried to run from them near Capital Boulevard.

Tyquan Monzell General, 25, had been hiding behind a house when police arrived to arrest him, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said.  General took off on foot and police caught up with him a short time later.

Area resident Debbie Gelibert said she saw the suspect run through her backyard.

“I saw the police and I looked outside. The next thing I heard was the bang of the gate and people running through this way,” Gelibert said.

General was charged with one count of resisting arrest for Wednesday's pursuit. He faces a second count of resisting arrest for Tuesday evening when police tried to arrest him, Sughrue said.

General fled from police after being accused of pushing a woman and smashing her car window, Sughrue said. He also faces charges of lying about his identity to police.
