Raleigh police capture suspect wanted in shooting after search of area near Crabtree Valley Mall

Raleigh police were searching an area near Crabtree Valley Mall on Thursday for a suspect in a shooting that happened in southeast Raleigh on Thursday.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police have captured the suspect wanted in a shooting that happened earlier Thursday in southeast Raleigh.

The search centered around an area near Crabtree Valley Mall after police said the suspect crashed his vehicle on Lead Mine Road near Sugar Bush Road.

Police said they responded to the 100 block of St. Augustine Avenue at around 4:43 p.m. They said a man had a gunshot wound and was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital. Officials said the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Police were searching for the suspect in the shooting and found the wrecked vehicle, not far from Crabtree Valley Mall. Officials were combing the area for the suspect before he was eventually caught and taken into custody.
