RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh pastor has been ticketed for assault after investigators say he urinated on a sleeping passenger during a Delta flight.

Police identified the pastor as Daniel Chalmers. He's a pastor of Love Wins Ministry in Raleigh.

Investigators said the incident happened on a flight to Detroit from Las Vegas earlier this month. A woman said she was asleep on the red-eye flight, sitting next to Chalmers. When she woke up, she saw him relieving himself on her.

An off-duty officer was on the flight and detained Chalmers.

Documents show the pastor admitted to having two drinks followed by an Ambien. On Tuesday, Chalmers released a statement to the local FOX news station in Detroit saying that was the first time he had ever taken the sleep medicine.

He also apologized to the passenger.

"I want to please ask everyone for their forgiveness in this. I never intended or wanted for this to happen," Chalmers said in a statement.

Chalmers said he would release a statement clarifying what happened on his website soon.
