Raleigh Parking Fines Go Up

RALEIGH, N.C. — Folks will have to shell out more money if caught parking illegally in Raleigh.

Council members raised the fines Monday for parking tickets to $3. The fine for parking illegally in certain safety zones went from $20 to $25.

The increase is part of the city's current budget.

The city of Raleigh also changed its parking prices. The city will charge $5 for parking at special events.

On a regular basis, public deck rates are $1 per 30 minutes. Monthly deck rates range between $90 and $100. It will cost $50 per month to park in surface lots.
