Cary Heise, a mom of two and mompreneur, started the page to offer local moms a place to network, learn and share advice.

I've written about Cary Heise, a mom of two in Apex, before. She's the creator of Social Butterflies, an online guide to family events in the area, and creator of the popular Stay at Home Rock Star T-shirts.
Those two ventures helped spur her to launch her latest project: the Raleigh Mompreneurs Facebook page.

Heise tells me that Social Butterflies and her T-shirt business keep her in touch with many local small business and at-home business owners. Most of them are moms. She's been active meeting with many of the women to network, sell and share business advice.

"These meetings and these relationships have been so valuable getting my latest business up and running," she says. "I wanted to create a place where all of these small business owners could meet and share ideas."

So she started the Raleigh Mompreneurs Facebook page in May. She invites Wake County moms with small businesses, both inside or outside the home, to introduce themselves and their products and services. Facebook followers are free to post links to websites, features, blogs and cross-promotions with other mompreneurs.

She has two goals for the page. She hopes business owners can network on the site and form a supportive, motivating group. She also hopes it can serve as a page where moms can learn about social media and how it can help build their business.

"Facebook and Twitter can influence your business greatly at no cost other than your time," she says. "Social media marketing is free and endless!"
