RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh mixologist Kevin Barrett, who invents cocktails at Dram & Draught, has been named a finalist in the U.S. Bartenders' Guild Make It Exotico Competition.

His submission, "Samba in the Rain," won him and all-expense paid trip to New Orleans, where he will compete against six other finalists in July. The grand prize is a trip to Exotico Tequila's distillery in Jalisco, Mexico.

In the Feb. 6 competition, mixologists had a maximum of seven minutes to make their cocktails for four judges, who graded the drinks on appearance, aroma, creativity, taste and overall impression. Every contestant was required to use Exotico Tequila.
