RALEIGH, N.C. — A man has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Saturday night, authorities said.

Steve Andrew Garcia, 17, was charged with murder following the stabbing death of Jonathan Maurice Culbreth, 21. He was being held Sunday without bond at the Wake County Jail.

Garcia was expected to appear in court on Tuesday for a preliminary hearing.

There were two crime scenes, including where the incident occurred, which was in the 3900 block of Dowling Haven Place shortly before 7 p.m.

Culbreth was rushed to WakeMed for treatment, where he died.

WRAL reporter Kasey Cunningham saw a man being taken into custody at a location a short distance from where the stabbing occurred but it was not immediately clear if that man was involved in the stabbing.

Residents who live on Dowling Haven Place said they didn't know much about the incident and had few details about the victim.

On Sunday, Garcia was being held in the Wake County Detention Center.

Police said anyone with information was asked to call investigators.
