Raleigh man shot during home invasion near Louisburg Road

Raleigh police are investigating after a man said he exchanged gunfire with an intruder and was shot in the stomach.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are investigating after a man was shot during a home invasion.

The man told police that he was in bed when he heard a bang and thought someone was breaking in.

He retrieved his gun and met an intruder in the living room. The two exchanged gunfire.

The man was shot in the stomach. It was not clear if the suspect was hit.

The man was driven to WakeMed Hospital, where he underwent surgery.

Police were investigating the invasion and shooting on the 4400 block of Fox Road, off of Louisburg Road.

Officials said they didn’t have a description of a suspect.
