Raleigh man indicted on murder charge

A Raleigh man has been indicted on a murder charge in connection with the death of a man in May.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh man has been indicted on a murder charge in connection with the death of a man in May.

Christopher Paul Britt, 36, was initially arrested May 4 on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury.

Authorities say he was involved in a fight in which he allegedly hit Jose Cruz Mar with a chair and bottle.

Mar died May 31.

A Wake County grand jury indicted him on a charge of murder Sept. 11. He was also indicted on second-degree arson and habitual felon charges.

Britt's criminal history includes numerous convictions, including assault on a female, assault by strangulation, assault with a deadly weapon, and felony larceny.
